About Danny:

Danny Johnson has long been known as a free-lance drummer in the New York/New Jersey area, and more recently also as a music educator. He has been on PBS recordings with jazz greats Jon Faddis and Mongo Santamaria, and performed in New York City with the likes of Ron Carter, Danny Mixon, Ed Cherry, Celeno Clarke and other jazz musicians. He's played R+B uptown with Soul De Force and the Marvelettes, and recorded ska downtown with East Village rockers Joe Jackson and the Toasters. Danny is versatile. In addition to his performing career, he composes and arranges music.

Danny can also be heard with his own 6-piece band, The Soul Jazz Coalition. The band plays a tapestry of jazz, soul, funk and more. Their first album is scheduled to come out next year.
